Personal Profile

me in grad robes2.JPG

My approach to design is not simply aesthetic-based, nor is it a robotic effort to reproduce "what works." It is always rooted in empathy, and from there, understanding. All ideas branch off from discovering those core elements of an audience's needs.

I studied as a Visualization student at Texas A&M, and learned these essential skills in my studio classes. We worked in groups to tackle problems and come up with empathetic and design solutions. I learned a lot about the extensive research that goes into great design, and the way that information is translated into user interface and experience.

I was very fortunate to study under such a rigorous and research-based design program, and I ensure that these essential skills and methods are reflected in my professional work as well.

My illustrations are much more personally developed. I find that when I draw for others, I put more love and patience into my work. I suspect this has to do with the way I've been trained to think about design, but ultimately, making art for someone you know well comes from an intimate place.
